How to backup and restore bookmarks in Google Chrome without a Google Account?

 

Google Chrome provides an easy way to sync your bookmarks, addons, extensions, themes and many more personal settings in your Google Account if you log into Google Chrome. But many of us may not prefer logging into your Google Account in Google Chrome for privacy reasons, specially if you are sharing your computer with your family or friends. Or there could be any other reason that you do not prefer logging into Google Chrome with your Google Account. Still, if you want to backup and later restore your bookmarks/favorites in Google Chrome without having to log into it – this guide will just show you that.

So, how do I backup and restore bookmarks in Google Chrome without a Google Account?

 

Let’s begin with backing up bookmarks in Google Chrome without a Google Account:

 

Step 1 : Navigate to “Bookmark Manager” by clicking the Google Chrome Menu button on top right -> Bookmarks -> Bookmark Manager

Step 2: Under Bookmark Manager, Click Organize -> Export Bookmarks to HTML File

Step 3 : Choose where you want to save your bookmark file, preferably choose a back up drive/ cloud drive/ USB thumb drive or any other location where the file can be stored safely for future retrieval and Click Save

That’s it, you have successfully backed up bookmarks from your Google Chrome without a Google Account.

 Now let’s restore the backed up bookmarks in Google Chrome without a Google Account:

 

Step 1 :  Click Google Chrome Menu on top right and navigate to Bookmarks -> Import Bookmarks and Settings

Step 2 : Under From click the drop-down to select Bookmarks HTML File and click Import

Step 3 : Click Choose File

Step 4 : Browse to the location where in the past you had saved the bookmarks file -> Click on the previously backed up bookmarks file once you locate it and click Open

Step 5 : It should now successfully restore the previously saved bookmarks, click Done

You can verify that your backed up bookmarks are back again!
